krajina v sz. Palestině, ležící na úpatí hory Hermon a mezi Libanonem a Antilibanonem. Jméno pochází podle [Gn 25,15 - Gn 25,16 ; 1Pa 5,19 ] od Jetura, syna Izmaelova, který dal tuto krajinu čeledím svých synů. Obyvatelé Itureje byli známí a obávaní loupežníci. Hlavní město slulo Chalkis, jižně od nynějšího Baalbek [Heliopolis]. R. 104 až 105 př. Kr. dobyl části této krajiny Aristobul I. Po něm zmocnil se Itureje *Herodes Veliký. Část její po jeho smrti přešla na Heroda Filipa [L 3,1 ].

Ituraea
a district in the north-east of Palestine, forming, along with the adjacent territory of Trachonitis, the tetrarchy of Philip (Luke 3:1). The present Jedur comprehends the chief part of Ituraea. It is bounded on the east by Trachonitis, on the south by Gaulanitis, on the west by Hermon, and on the north by the plain of Damascus.
