Místo v jz. části Palestiny v pokolení Juda, jež bylo i s předměstskými vesnicemi přiděleno kněžím [Joz 21,13 ; 1Pa 6,57 ]; jeho přesná poloha není známa (někde mezi Macedou a Lachis, [Joz 10,29 - Joz 10,31 ]). Za judského krále Jehorama, syna Jozafatova, odpadlo L. od království judského zároveň s Idumejskými [2Kr 8,22 ; 2Pa 21,10 ]. Senacherib, král assyrský, upustiv od obléhání Lachis, oblehl Lebno [2Kr 19,8 ; Iz 37,8 ]. L. bylo rodištěm Chamutaly, manželky Joziášovy, matky králů Joachase a Sedechiáše [2Kr 23,31 ; 2Kr 24,18 ; Jr 52,1 ].

(1.) One of the stations of the Israelites in the wilderness (Num 33:20 ; 33:21).
(2.) One of the royal cities of the Canaanites taken by Joshua (Josh 10:29-32; 12:15). It became one of the Levitical towns in the tribe of Judah (Josh 21:13), and was strongly fortified. Sennacherib laid siege to it (2Kings 19:8; Isa 37:8). It was the native place of Hamutal, the queen of Josiah (2Kings 23:31). It stood near Lachish, and has been identified with the modern Arak el-Menshiyeh.
