v němž David pobil 18.000 Aramejců (Syrů, [2S 8,13 ])nebo Idumejců [2S 8,14 ; 1Pa 18,12 ]; sr. [1Kr 11,15 nn; Ž 60,2 ]. Snad jde o údolí říčky vadi el-Milch (údolí solné), jež protéká vých. od Bersabé u úpatí návrší tell el-Milch. Dřívější vykladači ztotožňovali s. ú. s krajinou na jihu Mrtvého moře, kde mezi horským pásmem, skládajícím se z několika vrstev soli, a mořem je údolí dlouhé asi 12 km.

Salt, Valley of
a place where it is said David smote the Syrians (2Sam 8:13 ). This valley (the' Arabah) is between Judah and Edom on the south of the Dead Sea. Hence some interpreters would insert the words, "and he smote Edom," after the words, "Syrians" in the above text. It is conjectured that while David was leading his army against the Ammonites and Syrians, the Edomites invaded the south of Judah, and that David sent Joab or Abishai against them, who drove them back and finally subdued Edom. [Comp. title to (Ps 60:1)].
Here also Amaziah "slew of Edom ten thousand men" [(2Kings 14:7); comp. (2Kings 8:20-22) and (2Chr 25:5-11)].
