potok nebo bystřina, jež tvořila hranici mezi územím Moabských na jihu a Amorejských na severu [Nu 21,13 - Nu 21,26 ; Sd 11,22 ], později mezi územím Moabských na jihu a izraelským pokolením Rubenovým na severu [Dt 2,24 ; Dt 3,8 ; Dt 3,16 ; Joz 12,2 ; Joz 13,16 ]. Nynější vadi el-Modžib jest bezpochyby někdejší Arnon. Je to jedna z mála palestinských řek, jež v létě nevysychá. Je bohatá na ryby. Břehy jsou plny oleandrů a tropické květeny.

Arnon
swift, the southern boundary of the territory of Israel beyond Jordan, separating it from the land of Moab (Deut 3:8 ; 3:16). This river (referred to twenty-four times in the Bible) rises in the mountains of Gilead, and after a circuitous course of about 80 miles through a deep ravine it falls into the Dead Sea nearly opposite Engedi. The stream is almost dry in summer. It is now called el-Mujeb. The territory of the Amorites extended from the Arnon to the Jabbok.
