bruges til at betegne Prokonsulær Asien, en romersk provins, der omfattede de vestlige dele af Lilleasien, og hvor Efesus var hovedstaden, i [Apg 2:9 ; Apg 6:9 ; Apg 16:6 ; Apg 19:10 ; Apg 19:22 ; Apg 20:4 ; Apg 20:16 ; Apg 20:18 ] osv., og sandsynligvis Lilleasien i [Apg 19:26 ; Apg 19:27 ; Apg 21:27 ; Apg 24:18 ; Apg 27:2 ]. Prokonsulær Asien indeholdt de syv kirker i Apokalypsen [Åb 1:11 ]. "Høvdingerne i Asien" [Apg 19:31 ] var visse velhavende borgere, der årligt blev valgt til at lede spil og religiøse festivaler i de forskellige byer, som de tilhørte. Nogle af disse "Asiarker" var Paulus' venner.

Asia

is used to denote Proconsular Asia, a Roman province which embraced the western parts of Asia Minor, and of which Ephesus was the capital, in (Acts 2:9; 6:9; 16:6; 19:10; 19:22; 20:4; 20:16; 20:18), etc., and probably Asia Minor in (Acts 19:26; 19:27; 21:27; 24:18; 27:2). Proconsular Asia contained the seven churches of the Apocalypse (Rev 1:11). The "chiefs of Asia" (Acts 19:31) were certain wealthy citizens who were annually elected to preside over the games and religious festivals of the several cities to which they belonged. Some of these "Asiarchs" were Paul's friends.
