av'-a `awwa'; den autoriserede version Ava, a'-va: En provins, hvis folk Shalmaneser, Assyriens konge, placerede i Samarias byer i stedet for Israels børn, som blev taget i eksil af ham [2Kong 17:24 ]. Det er sandsynligvis det samme som Ivva [2Kong 18:34 ; 2Kong 19:13 ; Es 37:13 ], en provins erobret af Assyrien.

Ava
a place in Assyria from which colonies were brought to Samaria (2Kings 17:24). It is probably the same with Ivah (2Kings 18:34; 19:13; Isa 37:13). It has been identified with Hit on the Euphrates.
