Abel-maim
Description
Abelmaim = Abel-Beth-maacah
Abel-Beth-maacah [= pasture near the house of Maacah], an important fortress on the border of Palestine in the territory of the tribe of Naphtali, which was besieged by Joab [2Sam 20:14 -18]. It soon became the prey of the Syrian [1Kgs 15:20 ] and Assyrian kings [2Kgs 15:29 ]. In 2Chr 16:4 it is called Abelmaim, i.e., Abel on the waters. Today, in its place is a small Christian village called Abil el-Kamh on the west bank of the Jordan, directly opposite the ancient Dan.
