Description

A city in the land of Judah near Hebron [Josh 15:52 ] in the Valley of the Breadmakers, Wadi Arrub. On the right side of the road leading from Jerusalem to Hebron, the Ain Arrub spring flows. "From there, Pontius Pilate led an aqueduct to Jerusalem and appropriated part of the temple's sacrificial money for the construction of the aqueduct, for which he was accused in Rome in AD 36 and sent into exile in Gaul" [Kutal].
