Bamoth-baal
Description
[= *heights] is an abbreviation of the name Bamoth-Baal [Nm 21:19 ; Josh 13:17 ], a city in the Moabite region north of the Arnon River, 4 km south of Mount Nebo. The name itself suggests that there was a sanctuary of Baal [Isa 15:2 ]. Here, the Israelites camped for a time on their journey to the Promised Land [Nm 22:41 ].
