Aŝuridoj — menciitaj inter tiuj, super kiuj Iŝboŝet estis farita reĝo [2 Sam 2:9]. Ilia teritorio estas kalkulita inter Gilead kaj Jizreel.
[hebr. Aŝŝur], estas la plej malnova ĉefurbo de Asirio sur la dekstra bordo de Tigriso [Gn 2:14]. Laŭ ĉi tiu urbo estis nomita la samnoma ŝtato kaj ĝiaj loĝantoj, laŭ [Gn 10:22] posteuloj de Ŝem [Jeĥ 27:23 ]. Pli fruaj asiriaj regantoj loĝis en Aŝur ĝis Salmanasaro la 1-a [ĉirkaŭ 1280 a.K.], kiu faris Ninivon la ĉefurbo. Ĝi ne estis granda, sed bone fortikigita kaj nature protektita. En la norda parto de la urbo staris la palacoj de la reĝoj kaj la temploj de la dioj, inter kiuj la plej grava estis Aŝur [Aŝŝur]. Estis kutimo entombigi la mortintojn hejme. Hodiaŭ de ĉi tiu urbo restas nur ruinoj. *Asirio.

Of the tribe founded by him nothing is recorded beyond its holding a place in the list of the tribes (Gen 35:26 ; 46:17; Ex 1:4), etc. It increased in numbers twenty-nine percent, during the thirty-eight years' wanderings. The place of this tribe during the march through the desert was between Dan and Naphtali (Num 2:27). The boundaries of the inheritance given to it, which contained some of the richest soil in Palestine, and the names of its towns, are recorded in (Josh 19:24-31; Judg 1:31; 1:32). Asher and Simeon were the only tribes west of the Jordan which furnished no hero or judge for the nation. Anna the prophetess was of this tribe (Luke 2:36).
