Mizraim a matzor kettős alakja, jelentése „halom” vagy „erőd”, egy nép neve, amely Hám leszármazottja (1Móz 10:6 ; 1Krón 1:8 ). Ez volt a név, amelyet a héberek általában Egyiptom földjére (vö.) adtak, és jelentheti a két Egyiptomot, a Felsőt és az Alsót. Egyiptom modern arab neve Muzr.
