Abel-sitim

Deskripsi

Abel Shittim = padang rumput, kebun akasia atau hanya *Shittim, di dataran Moab berseberangan dengan Yerikho di Lembah Yordan. Tempat pemberhentian terakhir orang Israel di Transyordania, dari mana Yosua mengirim mata-mata ke Yerikho [Bil 33:49 ; Yos 2:1 ]. Saat ini, terdapat desa Gor es-Seisaban.

Abel-shittim

meadow of the acacias, frequently called simply "Shittim" (Num 25:1; Josh 2:1; Mic 6:5), a place on the east of Jordan, in the plain of Moab, nearly opposite Jericho. It was the forty-second encampment of the Israelites, their last resting-place before they crossed the Jordan (Num 33:49; 22:1; 26:3; 31:12); comp. (Num 25:1; 31:16).
