説明
エサウ山 - エドム (イザ 34:5 ,6; エゼ 35:15 )。「エドムの野」（創 32:3 ）、「エドムの地」（創 36:16 ）は山岳地帯であった（オバ 1:8 ,9,19,21）。それは「セイルの山」とも呼ばれ、アラバの東側にある険しい丘陵地帯であった。アカバ湾、エラニティック湾の先端から死海のふもとまで広がっていた（王一 9:26 ）、そして他の都市の中でも、ギリシャ名ペトラとして知られる岩に刻まれたセラ（参照）が含まれていた（王二 14:7 ）。それは荒々しく険しい地域で、豊かな谷が通っている。古都はボズラであった（イザ 63:1 ）。この地の初期の住民はホリ人であった。彼らはエドム人によって滅ぼされた（申 2:12 ）、エドム人とイスラエルおよびユダの王たちの間には頻繁な戦争があった（王二 8:20 ; 代二 28:17 ）。EBD

(1.) A Horite; one of the "dukes" of Edom (Gen 36:20-30).
(2.) The name of a mountainous region occupied by the Edomites, extending along the eastern side of the Arabah from the south-eastern extremity of the Dead Sea to near the Akabah, or the eastern branch of the Red Sea. It was originally occupied by the Horites (Gen 14:6), who were afterwards driven out by the Edomites (Gen 32:3; 33:14; 33:16). It was allotted to the descendants of Esau (Deut 2:4; 2:22; Josh 24:4; 2Chr 20:10; Isa 21:11; Ezek 25:8).
(3.) A mountain range [not the Edomite range, (Gen 32:3)] lying between the Wady Aly and the Wady Ghurab (Josh 15:10).
