아름다운 문

헤롯 성전의 이 문은 사도행전 [Ac 3:2, Ac 3:10]에서 베드로와 요한이 절름발이 사람을 치유한 이야기에서 언급됩니다. 아름다운 문을 미쉬나(Mid., i.4)의 화려한 "니카노르의 문"과 요세푸스의 "코린트의 문"(BJ, V, v, 3)과 동일시하는 데에는 큰 이견이 없습니다. 그러나 이 문이 동쪽의 여인들의 뜰 입구에 위치했는지, 아니면 그 뜰과 남자들의 뜰을 나누는 15개의 계단에 의해 도달할 수 있는 문인지에 대해서는 의견이 분분합니다.

Beautiful gate
the name of one of the gates of the temple (Acts 3:2). It is supposed to have been the door which led from the court of the Gentiles to the court of the women. It was of massive structure, and covered with plates of Corinthian brass.
