En by på den nordøstlige grensen av territoriet til Benjamin [Jos 18:24 ], gitt til levittene [Jos 21:17 ; 1Krøn 6:60 ]. Den lå på den nordlige grensen av kongeriket Juda, med Geba og Beersheba som henholdsvis de nordlige og sørlige grensene [2Kong 23:8 ].

the hill, [2Sam 5:25 ] [[1Krøn 14:16 ], "Gibeon"]; [2Kong 23:8 ; Neh 11:31 ], a Levitical city of Benjamin [[1Kong 15:22 ; 1Sam 13:16 ; 1Kong 14:5 ], wrongly "Gibeah" in the A.V.], on the north border of Judah near Gibeah [Jes 10:29 ; Jos 18:24 ; Jos 18:28 ]. "From Geba to Beersheba" expressed the whole extent of the kingdom of Judah, just as "from Dan to Beersheba" described the whole length of Palestine [2Kong 23:8 ]. It has been identified with Gaba [Jos 18:24 ; Esra 2:26 ; Neh 7:30 ], now Jeb'a, about 5 1/2 miles north of Jerusalem.
