Abel-Bet-Maaca

Abel-Betmaacha [= pășune lângă casa Maacha], o fortăreață importantă la granița Palestinei în teritoriul tribului Neftali, care a fost asediată de Ioab [2Sam 20:14 -18]. Curând a devenit pradă regilor sirieni [1Împ 15:20 ] și asirieni [2Împ 15:29 ]. În 2Cron 16:4 este numită Abelmaim, adică Abel pe ape. Astăzi, în locul său, se află un mic sat creștin numit Abil el-Kamh pe malul vestic al Iordanului, direct opus orașului antic Dan.

Abel-beth-maachah
meadow of the house of Maachah, a city in the north of Palestine, in the neighbourhood of Dan and Ijon, in the tribe of Naphtali. It was a place of considerable strength and importance. It is called a "mother in Israel", i.e., a metropolis (2Sam 20:19 ). It was besieged by Joab (2Sam 20:14 ), by Benhadad (1Kings 15:20), and by Tiglath-pileser (2Kings 15:29) about B.C. 734.
