Etam — poate un alt nume pentru Khetam, sau „fortăreață”, pe Shur sau marele zid al Egiptului, care se întindea de la Marea Mediterană până la Golful Suez. Aici israeliții și-au făcut a treia tabără [Ex 13:20 ; Nm 33:6]. Tabăra era probabil puțin la vest de orașul modern Ismailia. Aici israeliților li s-a poruncit să-și schimbe ruta [Ex 14:2 ] și să „se întoarcă” spre sud și să-și așeze tabăra înaintea Pi-Hahirot. (Vezi EXODUL; PITHOM.)

Etham
perhaps another name for Khetam, or "fortress," on the Shur or great wall of Egypt, which extended from the Mediterranean to the Gulf of Suez. Here the Israelites made their third encampment (Ex 13:20 ; Num 33:6 ). The camp was probably a little to the west of the modern town of Ismailia. Here the Israelites were commanded to change their route (Ex 14:2 ), and "turn" towards the south, and encamp before Pi-hahiroth. (See EXODUS; PITHOM)
