Un loc la est de Iordan în teritoriul tribului lui Gad [Jud 10:17 ; Jud 11:11 , Jud 11:29 ], posibil identic cu Masfe [Ios 13:26 ], numit și Ramot Ghilad [Deut 4:43 ; 1Împ 4:31 ; 2Împ 8:28 ] sau simplu Rama [2Împ 8:29 ]. A fost atribuit leviților [Ios 21:38 ] și transformat într-un oraș de refugiu [Deut 4:43 ; Ios 20:8 ]. Iefta a locuit aici [Jud 11:34 ], iar în timpul domniei lui Solomon, a fost locul de reședință al unuia dintre cei 12 oficiali fiscali ai țării [1Împ 4:13 ]. A căzut în mâinile regilor sirieni [1Împ 22:3 ff; 2Împ 8:28 ]. În timpul războaielor macabeene, a fost capturat și distrus de Iuda Macabeul. Era situat undeva pe râul Iaboc.

Ramath-mizpeh
the height of Mizpeh or of the watch-tower (Josh 13:26), a place mentioned as one of the limits of Gad. There were two Mizpehs on the east of the Jordan. This was the Mizpeh where Jacob and Laban made a covenant, "Mizpeh of Gilead," called also Galeed and Jegar-sahadutha. It has been identified with the modern es-Salt, where the roads from Jericho and from Shechem to Damascus unite, about 25 miles east of the Jordan and 13 south of the Jabbok.
