Abel Shittim = đồng cỏ, rừng cây keo hoặc đơn giản là Shittim, nằm trên đồng bằng Moab đối diện với Jericho trong thung lũng Jordan. Đây là điểm dừng chân cuối cùng của người Israel ở Transjordan, từ đó Joshua đã gửi do thám đến Jericho [Ds 33:49 ; Gs 2:1 ]. Ngày nay, có ngôi làng Gor es-Seisaban.

Abel-shittim
meadow of the acacias, frequently called simply "Shittim" (Num 25:1; Josh 2:1; Mic 6:5), a place on the east of Jordan, in the plain of Moab, nearly opposite Jericho. It was the forty-second encampment of the Israelites, their last resting-place before they crossed the Jordan (Num 33:49; 22:1; 26:3; 31:12); comp. (Num 25:1; 31:16).
