QUÁN BA
Quán Ba (tiếng Latin Tres Tabernae, tiếng Hy Lạp phiên âm là treis tabernai; Cicero Ad Att. i.13; ii.12, 13) là một trạm trên con đường Appian tại cột mốc thứ 33 (301/3 dặm Anh từ Rome), theo các hành trình của Đế quốc La Mã (Itin. Ant. vii; Tab. Peut.; Geogr. Rav. iv.34), là điểm giao thông hội tụ tại giao lộ của một con đường từ Antium đến Norba. Tripontium, cách 6 dặm xuống con đường Appian về hướng Appii Forum, được coi là điểm mà đường cao tốc đi vào vùng đầm lầy Pontiac, đặc điểm tự nhiên nổi bật nhất của phần này của Ý.
Các nhóm anh em Cơ Đốc giáo ở Rome đã đi ra để chào đón sứ đồ Phao-lô khi có tin rằng ông đã đến Puteoli, một nhóm đi xa đến Appii Forum, trong khi nhóm khác chờ đợi ông tại Quán Ba [Cv 28:15 ].

Taverns, The three
a place on the great "Appian Way," about 11 miles from Rome, designed for the reception of travellers, as the name indicates. Here Paul, on his way to Rome, was met by a band of Roman Christians (Acts 28:15). The "Tres Tabernae was the first mansio or mutatio, that is, halting-place for relays, from Rome, or the last on the way to the city. At this point three roads run into the Via Appia, that from Tusculum, that from Alba Longa, and that from Antium; so necessarily here would be a halting-place, which took its name from the three shops there, the general store, the blacksmith's, and the refreshment-house...Tres Tabernae is translated as Three Taverns, but it more correctly means three shops" (Forbes's Footsteps of St. Paul, p.20).
